  • Pet Policy – For all the animal lovers out there, this is a big one. If you have a furry friend, make sure the company you’re applying for will allow them on the road with you.
  • Driver Benefits – What does the company offer their drivers that others don’t? Find out how drivers are treated. Find out about their vacation plan and make sure the benefits match your needs.
  • Location – Is there a region or part of the country you’d like to run in? Make sure the company or position you’re interested in has routes in the area you’re interested in.
  • CDL Training Sponsorship – If you don’t have your Commercial Driver’s License, you’ll need to go to training before starting your truck driving career. Look for a company that will assist you or reimburse you for the cost of your training.

Know the Requirements

Each trucking company is different and hiring requirements vary from company to company. There isn’t one set of requirements for all truck driving jobs. Be prepared to be asked about things such as your driving experience, personal and professional background, and driving record.
