Celadon Group, Inc. congratulates Team 3 from the University of Indianapolis on winning the 2015 Celadon 24-Hour Case Study Competition.
This year’s winners of the Celadon Case Study Competition: Casey Brock ’18, Nicolas Williams ’19, Chris McKeown ’19 and Tyler Johnson ’18 of UIndy
The winning team, consisting of members Casey Brock ’18, Nicolas Williams ’19, Chris McKeown ’19 and Tyler Johnson ’18 of UIndy, won a cash award of $1,000 and top honors after participating in the competition on Oct. 8 and 9 at Celadon headquarters.
Tom Parker, assistant professor of operations and supply chain management at UIndy and sponsor of the School of Business’ Supply Chain Club, served as faculty adviser to the team. He said the students were “a very self-starting team.”
“They were probably the youngest people in the competition,” Parker said. “They were just going to get some experience, and they ended up winning it.”
Each year, the Celadon Case Study Competition provides real-world business experiences for college students in an interscholastic competition. Eleven teams participated this year. On Oct. 8, the teams conducted research, compiled data and outlined findings related to a reality-based case involving supplier relationships. On Oct. 9, the students had the opportunity to tour Celadon’s campus and ask upper management questions about their case.
Early Saturday morning, all teams presented their recommendation to the judges. They were assessed on their level of professionalism, visual presentation, overall content and responses to questions from the judge panel.
The annual Celadon Case Study Competition is one of the largest admin-sponsored events from the company each year. It provides college students the chance to network with Celadon management, explore internship and full-time employment opportunities and present solutions to a large corporation.
